Richard Van Perry was a renowned American record producer born on June 18, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York City. He began his musical career as a performer at Poly Prep and went on to become a successful producer in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Notable highlights include producing Carly Simon's hit single "You're So Vain" in 1972 and scoring hits with The Pointer Sisters through his own record label, Planet Records.
