Valerii Shalyha is a Ukrainian actor, director, and screenwriter, born on June 23, 1963, in Velyki Korovyntsi, Zhytomyr region. He made his film debut as a director at O.P. Dovzhenka film studio in 1993 with "Tri platachi nad Stepanem". Shalyha has also directed several notable films, including "Pokuta" and the "1941" trilogy, and is an Honored Artist of Ukraine.
