Terry Lynn Ellis is an American singer born on September 5, 1963, in Houston. She is a founding member of the R&B/pop vocal group En Vogue, formed in 1989, alongside Cindy Herron. Ellis's early life includes a degree from Prairie View A&M University, where she is the youngest of four daughters. She rose to fame with the group's platinum-certified single "Hold On," which peaked at number 2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
