He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) and was also Oscar-nominated for The Man in the Glass Booth (1975) and Julia (1977). Schell's performances in multiple identity plays showcased his versatility, earning him top billing in Nazi-era themed films.
