Robert Francell Chew was an American actor and acting coach, best known for his portrayal of Proposition Joe in HBO's The Wire. He brought depth to the character with his nuanced performance, drawing sympathy from audiences despite playing a "bad guy." A Baltimore native, Chew graduated from Morgan State University before launching his acting career, which also included roles on HBO's The Corner and NBC's Homicide: Lie to Me.
