Biography

Maurice Charles Willems is an American writer, animator, voice actor, and children's book author, born February 11, 1968, in Des Plaines, Illinois. He graduated cum laude from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and went on to create acclaimed animated series and children's book series, including Elephant & Piggie, which have received numerous awards, including multiple Caldecott Honors.
