Richard John "Dick" Vitale, known as "Dickie V", is an American basketball sportscaster and former head coach born on June 9, 1939. He became a college basketball broadcaster for ESPN in 1979, renowned for his enthusiastic commentary and catchphrases like "This is awesome, baby!" and "diaper dandy". Vitale has also written numerous books and appeared in several films, including the acclaimed documentary series "30 for 30".
