Barney Frank was a prominent Democrat who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts from 1981 to 2013. As chairman of the House Financial Services Committee from 2007 to 2011, he played a key role in shaping the country's financial regulations, particularly with the co-sponsorship of the Dodd-Frank Act. Frank was also a trailblazer as the first openly gay member of Congress.
