Biography

Arnold Eric Sevareid was an American author and CBS news journalist who gained recognition for his role in covering World War II, including being the first to report on the Fall of Paris in 1940. A member of "Murrow's Boys," he followed in Edward R. Murrow's footsteps as a commentator on the CBS Evening News, earning Emmy and Peabody Awards for his work. Sevareid graduated from the University of Minnesota before joining CBS news in 1939.
