Kevyn Aucoin

Biography

Kevyn James Aucoin was a Louisiana-born make-up artist and photographer who pioneered facial contouring in drag culture and stage makeup. Adopted as an infant by his biological parents, he found solace in makeup from a young age and developed a passion for photography that would stay with him throughout his career. A closeted gay man, Aucoin came out to his parents years later, who became vocal advocates for LGBTQ rights.
