Biography

Robert Wells was a versatile American artist born on October 15, 1922, in Raymond, Washington. He collaborated with Mel Tormé on numerous hit songs, including "Born to be Blue" and "A Stranger Called the Blues", before going on to write for television with shows like The Dinah Shore Chevy Show and variety specials featuring Shirley MacLaine. A prolific writer and producer, Wells was nominated for several Academy Awards and won six Emmys and a Peabody Award.
