Biography

Yasser Arafat was a Palestinian activist and statesman who led the Palestine Liberation Organization and Fatah from 1969 to 2004. He played a key role in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, signing the Oslo Accords in 1993 and receiving the Nobel Peace Prize alongside Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin. Arafat served as President of Palestine and the Palestinian Authority before becoming increasingly isolated due to corruption allegations and failed negotiations.
