João Bénard da Costa

Biography

João Bénard da Costa was a Portuguese professor, cultural manager, film critic, and essayist. He studied at the University of Lisbon, graduating with a degree in Historical-Filosophical Sciences in 1959, for which he wrote a monography on Emmanuel Mounier's personalism. A militant Catholic, he presided over the Juventude Universitária Católica from 1957 and later taught at various schools until his death in 2009.
