Manuel Martinez Carril

Biography

Manuel Martínez Carril was a renowned Uruguayan film critic, journalist, and professor born on February 22, 1938, in Montevideo. He joined Cinemateca Uruguaya as curator of films in 1967 and served as director coordinator for 27 years, later becoming director honorífico after his retirement. Martínez Carril also directed the Cine Club del Uruguay from 1960 to 1971 and led the Association of Cinematographic Critics of Uruguay during the 1960s.
