Otto Mächtlinger was a German actor known for his role as Glaser Steffen in the 1957 film "Rübezahl - Herr der Berge". Following World War II, he became an engaged critic of the war and later a committed communist. After marrying twice and raising two children, Mächtlinger pursued a freelance acting career before his death from cancer in 1985, culminating in a final performance on stage just days before his passing.
