Brenda Siemer Scheider was born on September 11, 1948, as Brenda King and developed an interest in art through her father's woodworking projects. She attended the University at Buffalo and was awarded a school art prize. In her personal life, she was married to actor Roy Scheider from 1989 until his death, with whom she had two children, before marrying architect Samuel Neustadt in 2012.
