John Kiriakou

Biography

John Kiriakou is an American former CIA officer and whistleblower who exposed the agency's use of torture in 2007. As a senior investigator for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he led the capture of Abu Zubaydah and later became the first US government official to confirm waterboarding was used at CIA "black sites." Kiriakou received awards for his whistleblowing and served a 30-month prison sentence before being released in 2015.
