St. Clair Bourne
Biography
St. Clair C. Bourne was a pioneering African-American documentary filmmaker and activist, born to a family of African-American parents in Harlem, New York. His work focused on subjects and social issues of concern to the African-American community, and he explored the lives of cultural figures such as Langston Hughes and Paul Robeson. A former Peace Corps volunteer and Georgetown School of Foreign Service graduate, Bourne's legacy extends beyond his filmmaking to his roles as teacher and organizer.
