Cenk Uygur is a Turkish-American progressive political commentator, media host, and politician born on March 21, 1970, in Istanbul. He is the creator of The Young Turks, a progressive news and commentary program, and co-founder of Justice Democrats and other progressive action committees. Before launching The Young Turks in 2002, Uygur worked as a talk show host and briefly practiced law. He ran for California's 25th congressional district in 2020 and 2024, advocating for progressive policies.
