Kai-Uwe Kohlschmidt is a German author and director born in Leipzig in 1968. He rose to prominence as the lead singer of the band Sandow, known for their song "Born in the GDR." As a composer, he has worked on numerous films, including episodes of Tatort and Polizeiruf 110, beginning in 2005. In recent years, Kohlschmidt has also explored writing and directing for hörspiel, radiofeatures, and documentary film.
