Chuck Wepner

Biography

Charles Wepner is a former professional boxer born on February 26, 1939, in a cheap hotel in New York City. He gained notoriety for his 15-round bout against Muhammad Ali in 1975, losing by only 19 seconds, and also scored wins over Randy Neumann and Ernie Terrell. Wepner's boxing career inspired the 1976 film Rocky, and he was the last man to fight former undisputed world heavyweight champion Sonny Liston.
