Toshio Sakata was a renowned Japanese comedian, born in Osaka in 1941, who rose to fame alongside Goro Maeda as part of the Comedy No. 1 duo. The pair won several awards for their light-hearted banter and comedic performances, including the Newcomer Award at the 5th Kamigata Manzai Grand Prix and the Outstanding Speech Award at the 1st NHK Kamigata Manzai Contest. Sakata's popularity stemmed from his signature idiotic character and memorable gags like 'Aarigato-saan' and 'A yoitose-no-korase'. He also released the hit record "Aho no Sakata" in 1972.
