Masako Izumi

Biography

Masako Izumi was a Japanese actress and adventurer born on July 31, 1947, in Ginza, Tokyo. She began her acting career at age 11 with the Wakakusa Theatre Company and later became one of Nikkatsu's three representative actresses. In 1989, she made history as the first Japanese woman to reach the North Pole. Izumi passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 77 due to cancer.
