William Stanley Merwin
Biography
William Stanley Merwin was a celebrated American poet, poet laureate, and advocate for environmental conservation. Born in New York City on September 30, 1927, he drew inspiration from Buddhist philosophy and deep ecology in his writing. Merwin received numerous accolades, including the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, and the prestigious Tanning Prize, before being named the 17th United States Poet Laureate by the Library of Congress in 2010.
