Charles Gitonga Maina is a Kenyan-born actor and basketball player born in Nairobi's Buruburu neighborhood. He gained recognition for his role as Saleh in the 1994 film The Air Up There, alongside Kevin Bacon. Before becoming an actor, Maina was a talented basketball player who won the 1991 Nairobi Slam Dunk Championship at age 14.
