Shizuko Kasagi
Biography
Shizuko Kasagi was a Japanese jazz singer and actress, known as the "Queen of Boogie" for her lively performances in the post-war era. Born Shizuko Kamei in 1914, she was adopted and began training in traditional Japanese dance at a young age before transitioning to singing and acting. Kasagi's collaboration with composer Ryōichi Hattori led to her signature work "Tokyo Boogie-Woogie", a song that helped change the face of Japanese music.
