Norman Jewison

Biography

Norman Jewison was a Canadian film director, producer, actor, and founder of the Canadian Film Centre, born on July 21, 1926, in Toronto. He directed films tackling social and political issues, earning three Academy Award nominations for Best Director for In the Heat of the Night (1967), Fiddler on the Roof (1971), and Moonstruck (1987). Jewison also received the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award and other accolades throughout his 40-year directing career.
