GZA, born Gary Eldridge Grice on August 22, 1966, is an American rapper and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. As the group's "spiritual head," he was its first to receive a record deal and oldest member. GZA has maintained a successful solo career since Liquid Swords (1995), characterized by his unique blend of science and philosophy in his lyrics, which also showcase a distinctive vocabulary and smooth flow.
