William Denby Hanna was an American animator, voice actor, and musician who co-created Tom and Jerry and founded the animation studio and production company Hanna-Barbera in 1957. He gained prominence working on cartoons such as Captain and the Kids before teaming up with Joseph Barbera at MGM in 1937. Under his leadership, Hanna-Barbera produced iconic shows like The Flintstones and Scooby-Doo, winning seven Academy Awards and becoming a global phenomenon.
