Seymour Bernstein

Biography

Seymour Abraham Bernstein (April 24, 1927 – April 30, 2026) was an American pianist, composer, and teacher. At 15, he began teaching piano, and by 17, he won the Griffith Artist Award, gaining local fame as a performer. During the Korean War, he performed for military leaders, and later debuted with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, premiering a world-premiered work in 1969.
