Biography

Jonathan Michael Richman is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born on May 16, 1951, in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1970, he founded the influential proto-punk band Modern Lovers with keyboard player Jerry Harrison and drummer David Robinson, who later achieved success with Talking Heads and the Cars. As a solo artist since the mid-1970s, Richman is known for his unique blend of rock and world music influences, characterized by an unaffected and childlike outlook.
