Biography

Futura, born Leonard Hilton McGurr on November 17, 1955, began painting graffiti in New York City's subway in the early 1970s. He later showcased his work at the Fun Gallery alongside notable artists like Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat in the early 1980s. A pioneer of abstract street art, Futura is known for his distinctive style that blends graffiti with abstract expressionism.
