Biography

Hal Hickel is a visual effects animator for Industrial Light & Magic. As a 12-year-old, he wrote to Lucasfilm with ideas for a Star Wars sequel and received a rejection letter that now hangs in his office at ILM. Hickel joined Pixar in 1994 and later worked on The Phantom Menace, before being assigned to the prequel trilogy. He won Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
