Ivy Lilian Close was a British actress born on June 15, 1890, in Stockton-on-Tees. She became one of the first film stars to establish her own production company with her husband Elwin Neame and went on to act in 44 films between 1912 and 1929. Her reign as "World's Most Beautiful Woman" in 1908 remains a notable highlight, winning her recognition across Britain.
