Otto Waldis was a talented Austrian-American character actor who appeared in notable roles from the 1930s to the 1960s. Before fleeing Nazi persecution, he began his acting career in Germany, performing Shakespeare and classic German plays as well as directing them. In Hollywood, he earned recognition for his lead role in The Broken Pitcher, which won first prize in an international competition in 1934.
