Biography

Preben Elkjær is a Danish former professional footballer born on September 11, 1957. He played for Hellas Verona in Italy, helping the club win its only major title, the 1985 Serie A. As a key figure for the Denmark national team, Elkjær scored 38 goals and won the Bronze Ball award at the 1986 World Cup. Regarded as one of the best forwards of the 1980s, he finished second in the Ballon d'Or awards in 1985.
