Anthony Hawtrey

Biography

Anthony John Hawtrey was an English actor and theatre director, born on January 22, 1909, and passing away on October 18, 1954. He began his acting career in 1930, initially working in London, South Africa, and with the Liverpool Repertory Company, before becoming director at the Embassy Theatre and later the Dundee Repertory Theatre. Hawtrey was a member of the renowned Terry family of actors and directed several productions that transferred to the West End.
