Werner Schwier was a German actor and television presenter, best known for his work on the 1960s television show "Es darf gelacht werden" (It is permitted to laugh), which he hosted from 1961 to 1965. The show, a 45-minute evening program, featured silent film shorts, including appearances by Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. Schwier's charismatic hosting style earned viewers high ratings, with audiences tuning in at over 80 percent.
