Biography
Yılmaz Güney was a Kurdish film director and novelist who rose to prominence in Turkey's film industry, creating works that often highlighted the struggles of working-class people. He won the Palme d'Or for his co-directed film "Yol" (1982), which portrayed the plight of Kurds in Turkey. Despite facing challenges from the Turkish government due to his portrayals of Kurdish culture, he continued to advocate for social justice through his work.
