Biography

Dovima was a pioneering American supermodel of the 1950s, born Dorothy Virginia Margaret Juba in Queens, New York. She was discovered on a sidewalk by an editor at Vogue and went on to work closely with renowned photographers Irving Penn and Richard Avedon. Dovima's iconic image, "Dovima with the Elephants," shot by Avedon in 1955, remains one of the most celebrated fashion photographs of all time.
