Monika Treut is a German filmmaker known for her award-winning documentaries and queer films. Her feature film debut was with Seduction: The Cruel Woman (co-directed by Elfi Mikesch), exploring sadomasochistic sex practices. A lifelong advocate for filmmaking education, she has taught at various US universities and served on juries at international festivals. She received the Special Teddy award at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival for her lifetime achievement.
