María Merlino was born on January 27, 1971, in Benito Juárez, Buenos Aires. She began her career as a dancer and later transitioned to acting, taking classes with renowned instructors like Alejandro Urdapilleta and Sandra Baylac. Her early work included performances with the group El Periférico de los Objetos, leading to her debut in the 1998-2000 production of Jorge Sánchez's "El desmadre".
