Estelle Hemsley was a prominent African American actress of stage and screen, known for her notable film roles in "Take a Giant Step" (1959), where she earned a Golden Globe nomination, and in Elia Kazan's 1963 Oscar-nominated "America, America", playing Grandmother Topouzoglou. She also appeared in Mel Ferrer's 1959 drama "Green Mansions" and Robert Mulligan's 1965 film "Baby the Rain Must Fall".
