Biography

Shafiq Syed is a former child actor born in 1976, who rose to fame at age 12 with his lead role in Mira Nair's Academy Award-nominated film Salaam Bombay! (1988). He went on to receive the 1989 National Film Award for Best Child Artist. After years of living on the streets, Syed later worked as an assistant in television production units in Bangalore.
