Biography

Nomhlé Nkonyeni was a South African actress who emerged during apartheid and became a trailblazer for black performers on stage. Her notable roles include Mrs. Sizela in "Red Dust" (2004) and her lead performance in Athol Fugard's "Die Swerfjare van Poppie Nongena" (1981), making her the first black person to perform at the CAPAB theatre.
