Kim Philby was a British intelligence officer and double agent who played a pivotal role in the Cambridge Five, a group of high-ranking Soviet spies. He defected to the Soviet Union in 1963, after being suspected of treason by MI6. Philby's betrayal was a significant blow to British intelligence, leading to a major shake-up of the agency. He lived under assumed identities in the Soviet Union until his death in 1988.
