Valeriy Bessarab, a renowned Ukrainian and Soviet actor, was born on August 18, 1944, in Moscow. He graduated from the Kiev State Institute of Theatre Arts in 1965 and began his acting career in 1966, joining the Kiev Russian Drama Theatre. Bessarab was awarded the Kiev Pectoral "For a significant contribution to theatrical art" in 2009. He passed away on January 9, 2013, in Kiev.
