Biography

Alain Françon is a French playwright and theatre director born on January 16, 1945, in Saint-Étienne. He co-founded Le Théâtre éclaté in 1971, mounting works by Marivaux, Sade, and others, before directing the Centre dramatique national de Lyon and Théâtre du Huitième. Françon's work includes seven productions of Edward Bond's plays, including the award-winning "Pièces de guerre", for which he received his first Molière in 1995.
