Andrew Wakefield

Biography

Andrew Jeremy Wakefield is a British former physician and academic, struck off the medical register in 2010 for "serious professional misconduct" due to his involvement in the fraudulent 1998 Lancet MMR autism report. He co-founded the Thoughtful House research centre in Austin, Texas, where he served as executive director until his resignation in 2010. Wakefield's actions led to a sharp decline in vaccination uptake, causing outbreaks of measles and resulting in many deaths worldwide.
