Mart Crowley

Biography

Edward Martino Crowley was an American playwright born on August 21, 1935, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He graduated from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and began his career in Hollywood, working for television production companies before meeting Natalie Wood. Crowley's play "The Boys in the Band" opened off-Broadway in 1968, starring himself, and became a groundbreaking success, running for 1,000 performances.
